Spike Jones presents: Lil Buck and Yo-Yo Ma ( 2011) Check out this contemporary collab between world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma and (as Stocktown predicts) upcoming rising star – 22-year old Charles Riley, a prominent street dancer from Memphis a.k.a. Lil Buck. Lil Buck introduces a modernized hip hop version of “The Swan” giving that extra swagger to it by adding some memphis jookin. Director Spike Jonze managed to shoot this performance on a benefit for the arts in public schools. -“sometimes ballet and sometimes hip-hop”- perhaps there’s no need to define this performance, the evoking of shivers speaks for itself. All that is left to say is that more Memphis Jookin is needed and where can I sign up for taking classes?
