The royal dreamer

I figured this production is suitable for an ordinary Monday, featuring a solid video by the indie rock band Motèl Mari, including band members João Orecchia, and from Jo-burg, Mpumelelo Mcata and Tshepang Ramoba of BLK JKS. The video for ‘Just Like A King’ is shot in South Africa and stars the member João Orecchia as he works a shift at… what seems to be not such an exciting job.

It encapsulates what to many –  is a commonly experienced theme, an ordinary boring work day, clocking in at work, slaving a shift, working hours spent dreaming away, yearning and envisioning the life of a king “I want to live, just like a king.…free parking space and warm takeaways, just like a king…” only to clock out and find an outlet for those royal dreams. I salute Motél Mari, I’ve been listening to the album constantly and it just keeps growing on me.

Floats!
