Up-and-coming London-native TĀLĀ (farsi for gold) is on our radar, this Iranian-born prodigy is bound to top the charts just about now and she’s mos def destined to go far and will be a name 2014 won’t forget. Her latest EP ‘The Duchess’ is already evoking a hyped response and we’re just as stoked to introduce you to this rising artist. The EP marks the debut release with a trippy fresh sound and a mixture of influences and styles, offering a slice of atmospheric bliss.
In a recent interview with The Fader TĀLĀ talks about the idea behind the video for ‘Serbia’ which accordingly depicts ‘a peek into her fractured state of mind after watching the most extreme torture porn film in recent memory’ drawing reference to ‘A Serbian Film’ (2011) a highly controversial film with a disturbing and violent reputation for its sadism. Travelling on a low-budget along with video director Katia Ganfield, the duo winged the video and we’re excited about viewing the full-length version real soon. Check out the exclusive teaser above, which is the first track off the soon to drop Serbia EP on UK-label Aesop. (June 2nd).
HYPED!
