Stocktown x Gazelle

– We just kind of combined, collided and did our thing. I think the style is our own. We use the genres that we like and throw it together. People ask us: “What kind of genre, what kind of music?” We came up with the name LIM POP.

This is how Gazelle frontman Xander Ferreira describes their style of music when Stocktown caught up with him and Nick Matthews, the other half of the duo, a sunny winter afternoon at Clifton beach in Cape Town. With an aesthetic inspired by notorious over the top African dictators such as Mobutu Sese Seko and Idi Amin and extravagant stage performances they always make an impact. Listen to Xander talk about about their music, fashion and creating opportunities for yourself and people around you.
