“KWAAI– Sweden/South Africa Hiphop Exchange #1″ is the first teaser for the highly anticipated project called ”Kwaai” (Afrikaans street slang for ‘cool’) and features the KWAAI-crew kicking it in the studio while describing the project. It’s soon to be launched, and is without a doubt – a kwaai collab between prominent Swedish and South african hip hop artists. The project is financed by the Swedish counsellor for Cultural Affairs, and promises an engaging initiative ‘aimed to build bridges between the two countries’ thriving music scenes, in order to facilitate more collaborations in the future’. We applaud this bound-to-spark-fireworks event, created by the Sthlm-based masterminds ; Spiderdogs and Femtastic.
The journey towards South Africa kicks off on December 16th, taking Swedish artists such as; Adam Tensta, Syster Sol, Cleo,Chords, Mofeta & Jerre and Dirty Jens on board, who will embark on their journey to take part in the musical exchange. During the summer of 2013, the tables will turn, and South African artists will take the stages in Sweden to both tour and participate in various lectures, as well as build ties with the Swedish music scene. Accordingly, a film crew will also be following the artists and portray the project’s journey in both countries, planned to result into either a documentary film, or television series (planned for release during 2014). So keep your eyes and ears open for that!
BUT! Before all of this, the crew will be hosting this autumn’s most swag bash parties ever to launch the project.
