INDIE CITIES – Stockholm – Candyland (Art)

Candyland is a non-profit art-collective run by ten people and based in Södermalm, the south-east part of Stockholm. Founded in February 2004, Candyland has arranged more than a hundred exhibitions, gigs, performances, workshops, screenings and parties over the last ten years. The members of Candyland each take turns to invite different artists from around the world to exhibit in Stockholm and have formed a strong bond between each other which is much more like a family than a commercial organisation.

This episode of INDIE CITIES looks at Candyland’s redevelopment of a warehouse – The Hammarby Art Port, which is now Candyland HQ. We also wax-lyrical about the Swedish ‘Middle Way’ and attend the work in progress of Mexican artist – Mariana Cabello.
