Guest video curator: Pierce Freelon

In this video a group of kids from Portobelo, Panama do it all: produce the beat, write the lyrics and develop the concept for the music video with filmmaker Saleem Reshamwala (aka Kid Ethnic). Filmed during Diablos y Congos – a unique festival in Portobelo that celebrates a history of undermining enslavement though parody, play, music and dance; “Diablos,” or devils, represent white men, while “Congos” represent African and indigenous people. The video features traditional Panamanian masks, Diablo Rojo buses, folk art and ritual dance.
