Documentary film director Yung Chang spent two years in the Huili county, China, shooting this feature documentary entitled ‘China Heavyweight’ (released by EyeSteelFilm) which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival (2012) and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize for “World Cinema – Documentary”. This is a striking documentary portraying rural teenagers in southwestern China who strive for chasing their dream of becoming China’s next up-and coming boxers. “To be tried and tested a thousand times over” echoes through the boxing centers and shows the strong commitment it takes to earn that desired title, featuring Qi Moxiang, a boxing coach, who scans rural China to recruit boys and girls across China to become the country’s next Olympic heroes.
