I dig this music video for Shabazz Palaces track “Blast it” featuring footage from the upcoming documentary Tough Bond shot during a two year period by a group called Village Beat. Shabazz Palaces is a Seattle based group with member Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler of Digable Planet’s fame.
“Tough Bond is an urgent message from Africa that documents the disappearance of the village, told through the lives of 3 Kenyan street kids, hustling, sniffing glue, surviving in a parallel society with no tribe but the one they create for themselves. Shot over two years, we lived with our characters and followed their stories from the most rural villages of the country to the hearts of its biggest slums“.
