Art A la Tetris by Aakash Nihalani

Brooklyn based artist Aakash Nihalani is a master of tape, he’s sort of your typical equivalent of the character Edward, as in the movie Edward Scissorhands, but instead of the inevitable scissoring skillsthere’s neon colored tape, all executed á la Tetris style. His signature work is creating trompe l’oeil 3-D boxes, using tape on the sidewalks of NYC, creating multidimensional space and providing an optical illusion for random pedestrians to enjoy. The city becomes the artist’s own personal canvas and is, according to the artist, to be viewed as ”-an opportunity to view the city more playfully-”. So, I’d say that this is more of a clean-cut version of your classic graffiti, notice the immaculate precision and symmetrical lines, I wonder if his home is covered in boxes?
